For free directories, there are 3 sites that provide the best with no reciprocal link that are updated often. vmoptions.com/directory-list.php addurl.nu directorycritic.com/free-directory-list.html?sort=date_added&pg= Those sites are all you need.
In my experience is a waste of time submitting to directories that you found from a list, half of them are so lowly ranked in google. Its better to be more constructive, eg you want to promote an ebook then search google for directory ebooks free submit etc.. this way you can be sure that the pages you find are in google and related to your keywords and getting just one link this way will be worth 100 of those lesser links
We have >10.000 directories in our list. And also we have tool to filter directories and track submissions.
