Does anybody know of a list, or just know, in which countries MSN has a high market share?

That way I can target those countries and earn easy cash!

I know from experience that Canadians use MSN quite often, but would like to know more countries...

Because I have several sites that target Canadians cities, around 80% of the visitors are Canadians and according to Wordtracker and Overture my main terms are searched for 100 to 150 times a day and from MSN alone I get between 30 to 50 visitors a day for those terms.

It is not scientific, but because those 10 sites all have around 30% daily visitors with regards to what Wordtracker/Overture states, my personal experience suggests that Canadians use MSN quit alot.

The other, very possible indeed, conclusion is that the Wordtracker/Overture data is way off. But even if that is the case, it has been very lucrative for me to target Canadians with regards to MSN optimization.

Oh, and another thing that may be of interest...

For some of those terms I also have nr1 position in Yahoo and I don't get as many visitors as from MSN.

i'm canadian and my sites that target canada get a LOT of traffic from MSN.

in fact, about 45%, and 48-49% from google, and almost nothing from YAHOO.

MSN has partnered with www.sympatico.ca (Canada's largest ISP, as far as I know).

    i like MSN :)

    cheers,
    mike

Thanks to the ninemsn thread I thought of a way to perhaps find out which countries to target!

ninemsn.com.au is seemingly a partnership with tv channel 9 and msn in Australia and in that thread it mentiones that it is quite populair.

sympatico.msn.ca is seemingly a partnership with an ISP and msn in Canada an this one is populair as well.

It would seem logical to say that in any country that MSN has a partnership with some major corporation, the searchvolume would be pretty high.

    msn.ca is redirected to sympatico.msn.ca
    msn.com.au is redirected to ninemsn.com.au

Next thing is to test all msn extensions and watch for a redirection with the name of another company in it!

Not sure if I have the time right now as it is close to 2am, but when I have I will update this thread.

Found all possible extensions, but since I am no programmer at all, I require some assistance.

I have found 2 tools that checks for redirection AND displays the url which it redirects to, but it can handly only one url at the time. Since there are 252 extensions and 3 possible combinations, it is way too much work to manually enter the 756 urls!

The tools that works for single domains are
    http://www.webconfs.com/redirect-check.php
    and
    http://gsitecrawler.com/tools/server-status.aspx

I sorta remember that the owner of webcons.com is either active here or on seochat, but cannot remember the username, otherwise I could ask him to modify the script in order to check for multiple urls.

If someone would be so kind to write such a tool and let us know all urls to which the beneath urls redirect to, my appreciation would be endless!

All possible urls are attached in a plain .txt file.

I just know that MSN is popular in Canada, I'm not sure about other countries.

    Good luck.
