    Hello,

Does anybody have charitable websites list so that we can add them to our directories for free.

I got mails from couple charity website owners for listing their sites, but they dont seem to be real, just scamming.

So i need a list of charity related websites. :)

Please share if you have any.

    http://www.charitynavigator.org/

Legitimate charities have advertising budgets. They pay for radio and television advertising. I don't know why they should expect free web advertising.

You can also add authority sites ( and not just charitable as it will fill your one category only "charities and organization" :;))

Not always true. Some very legitimate sites that fall in the general "charitable" realm are entirely nonprofits (like my Scripture educational site www.jimfeeney.org). We have no budgets other than what we are willing to pay out of our personal funds. And a very few of us neither solicit nor encourage outside financial support. I have a disclaimer to that effect at the bottom of my home page.

Is http://www.komar.org/ taken into charitable website?

I have not got any mail from this site, but i remember it being called as charitable one. What would you consider it under?

It's probably best for each directory owner to establish their own policies regarding the listing of charitable organizations.

I also think that each directory owner wanting to make such additions to their own directory should search out and list charities that they feel passionate about rather than list them because someone else does. I wouldn't expect everyone else to share my enthusiasm about causes or charitites that I'm interested in.

    Just my 2c.

If it's a UK site & it's genuine, they will be registered here. I would think there is something similar in other countries that you could use to make sure they are legitimate.

@speda1 - many businesses take charitable status into account when transacting with them. You don't have to, it's your business afterall, but it could generate credibility for your directory if you decide to follow that path. And in the directory world, where there seems very little to differentiate one directory from another, apart from a different skin or another widget, who knows what other business you might generate as a result.

And just as I finished writing that, I decided to live up to what I just wrote!

I do list charities that I believe in. But there are many charities that I don't believe do any good, for example disease that don't actually fund any research and environmental related charities that 'raise awareness', like we don't already know. Also, some charities are just political fronts, stunts and charades.
