Does the duplicate content penalty come into play when you only submit to article directories and do not place the articles on your site? More specifically, does the penalty pass through to the links? Or can I devalue an article if I post 200 of the same on different sites?

I'd like to know the same thing please. I hear of people submitting their articles to tons of article sites and wonder if they have to modify each article to avoid duplication.
I don't see why submitting the same article would be a problem. I mean, when we submit a press release, it is the same article that is processed to every other sites out there. (i could be wrong though)
Very Good list. I find I get more traffic from http://ezinearticles.com/ than from all the others. If you are bum marketing youshould submit to all the sites for the best results.
