If anyone cares here is list of adnetworks I've tried over the past 5 months and made money with and the ones that failed.

    [ ✓] Adsense
    [ ✓] kontera
    [ ✓] Adbrite
    [ ✓] Adversal
    [ X] Paypopup
    [ X] Popuptraffic
    [ X] LayerAds
    [ X] ShoppingAds
    [ X] AuctionAds
    [ X] Bidvertiser

Adsense: Works, great best PPC network available to publishers.

Kontera: Another great network for inline advertisments. People click on them and they look nice.

Adbrite: Good CPM and PCP network. They have a very open TOS which allows there Ads almost anywhere. Their full page ads and inlines are great for extra cash.

Adversal: Great pop-under network. Fair cpm rates and the reporting is good.

Paypopup: Good CPM rates but there pop-unders are infested with Malicoius javascript that will redirect your visitors off your pages. There pop-unders are fairly dirty. I think they are not inspecting their advertisers and allowing Dirty pop-unders on their network. Not something I want on my site.

Popuptraffic: Suffers from the same thing, a few dirty pop-unders. I suspect also their cheating publishers and they give a crappy CPM.

LayerAds: Unless your traffic is from the E.U expect to make little with this. Also their layer ads have Porn Ads in them. With no publisher control to remove them. Not something i want on my website.

    ShoppingAds and AuctionAds
: I heard people made some good money with AA before they were sold to mediaWhiz. This publisher network is seriously suffering from alot problems from what I've seen using it. Athough I continue to use AA. (I'm still waiting out this guys to get their shit together)

Bidvertiser: Low CTR becuase the Ads are not relevant to the sites content even if you put in the right category. This network has alot of "make money online" types of Ads. Useless for me and made nothing with this network.

You can see what Kontera look like here
They make Adbrite inlines look like crap. Kontera's are very nice. Although most your inlines will be just text based ones. I have seen though a few times on my sites a Video one. which was pretty cool, rolled over it and there was a tv commericial!

personally bidvertiser isn't that bad they just have a limited ad pool, also, does YPN, Adtoll and Widgetbucks not make the cut as well as max bounty as others, there are a lot more programs out there everyone, don't forget to try em out and see what works for you!

Its an interesting post, but what does not work for one person, does not mean it will not work for the next. Every site owner and site, is different.

All programs are different, each will appeal differently to publishers.

In short, you should look for support, payment (and options for payment) and features (ad formats, ease of use, statisitcs etc).

Support needs to be swift and helpful, if you are waiting longer than 24 hours for support thats simply not good enough.

Payment needs to be reliable and obviously fit with your requirements (paypal, check etc.)

The featuers need to be there for you to sucessfully publish ads. A good range of ad formats, detailed and reliable statistics, an easy to use interface etc.

I still beleive that some diversification is the key to succesful site monetisation.
