    Hello everyone,
I think it's true that 'the money is in the list' but what really is the most effective list building method? Does any one have an idea?

    thanks

If you're asking about the most effective method, then my answer will be the stronger the relationship between the owner and subscribers, the better will be the results.

It boils down to the relationships.

In terms of getting a good conversion ratio sign-up, then that will depend a lot on the sales page/headline, website design, the offer itself, etc.

List building is a HUGE topic by itself and thus it would be wise to follow a step-by-step plan or study from a comprehensive and proven sources.
If you have the money to invest, it would be much better. For beginners I highly recommend the war room from the warrior forum (just $37 one-time for lifetime access). In it, there are TONS of solid information on many subjects including list building.

But if you don't have the cash yet, try searching for free list building tutorials on google.

I apologize if this is not the answer that you want but it comes straight from the bottom of my heart, so I highly recommend beginners to invest a little in order to get solid, quality and comprehensive tutorials/manuals to start with...

After all, online business is just like a real business... so there's a small investment needed in order to speed up our success. :)

Of course it is still possible to get from free resources but it's quite a challenge to be able to find those proven models for free..

www DOT warriorforum DOT com(SLASH)war-room-private-discussions (sorry I don't have enough posts to post a live link)

After joining, you can use the advanced search function and look for keywords like 'list building' or smt similar.

You can thank me later after seeing what's in there. :) :)

    Good luck!

    lol

Don't go buying every guide to list building going... it is a never ending cycle and you can learn it all for free...

To build a list you need:

    • A simple landing page which is very focused on getting people into your list -that would be the only / entire focus of your page - to provide basic info and to offer people into your list by...
    • Offering free stuff - a mini course, ebooks, audio, a guide, secret tips on the subject area, discounts... etc... FREEBIES
    • Writing an autoresponder - stuffed with more free info / gifts, and every 3rd or eve every other email having an offer attached to it.
    • Drive as much traffic to your landing page as possible via whatever methods you know, and scale it up, test your emails, replace the ones that don't perform, add more of the ones that do.

It's about speeding up your success... :)

Sure anyone can opt for the free route, no problem. But if you analyze properly, for each of the four points you mentioned actually DOES require a newbie to further asks questions like "exactly how do it do that"?

1- How do I create the 'simple landing page'...what tool to use?how to design the site?how do I write when I'm not good at writing?
2- Offering free stuff - Where do I get it? How? I'm not a good writer. What should I do exactly?Where are the resources?
3- writing autoresponder - how do I write? what kind of emails?how do I write persuasive emails? when and where should promote my product and service? any samples? any ready-made templates for me to use?
4- Drive as much traffic - how do heck do I do that? (In fact, driving traffic to your site is almost the most subject that every marketer desperately wants to learn, and mind you it's a BIG BIG subject!!)

These are just tip of the iceberg. Often we intermediate/experienced marketers take for granted on the knowledge and experience that we have gained without putting our shoes in the mind of a newbie.

It's not as easy as A-B-C. With each tip that you have given comes along with it more and more things to learn on how to accomplish that. And you normally can't find that for free.

All the detailed stuff.. with video tutorials.. normally comes with a price tag...

I know this cuz I've been there myself and I used to run a membership site containing video tutorials on a wide range of topics about marketing (I've sold the site back then).. I chose that business model to help newbies because that's how I felt exactly when I was starting out... and the detailed video tutorials helped me out. With just the free stuff, I always asked this question repeatedly "How do I exactly do that"...

All the so called guru's know all the good stuff.
So my advice is to listen to what the others mentioned.
And for traffic, you can also use safelists, traffic exchanges, forums and blogs.

You do raise some good points Edge, props. I just worry about advising people to "read more and take less action".... the WF is decent, but it is also the sort of place you can lose yourself for days on end reading, and still be none the wiser due to conflicting advice, and still further things to buy and read... I would say still try and take some action yourself, map a plan out and start working towards it and as you get results look to read best practice guidelines and further info about it and actually apply it to what youre doing and your current formula, rather than just endlessly reading as a newbie and never actually getting anything done.

I understand your concern. It could overwhelm the newbie with so much good stuff. It is thus advisable to stick to just one proven method and work on it. If the newbie can discipline himself this way, chances are he will succeed no matter which guide he reads and follows.
