This is a beginner's Tips for Link Development.

Tip 1: Do follow/No Follow Blog commenting.

Blog commenting is a good way of link development but I believe that if you shouldn't over do it with do follow blogs. I believe that you should do 50% (Dofollow) and 50% (Nofollow) so google can see that you are ranking naturally.

If you want to do this right you should buy a software like Fast Blog Finder.

    Tip 2: Free Directory Submission

This is the basic 101 of all link building, and what's important that these are not paid links. I don't think there is any harm in overdoing it.
There are lots of programs here that can help you out, and make this process less boring.

Tip 3: Dofollow Forum Signatures Links

It's still unknown how effect this process is, because I'm still experimenting with it. But I believe there is no harm at all finding forums that give you do follow links. Also do NOT post more than 10-15 posts on each forum.
Especially here in Digitalpoint, if you think that buying a signature link from someone with 10,000 posts is smart.. Think again.

    Tip 4: Paid directories

Do not buy any links from big paid directories, especially if your site is new.
But there is no harm buying cheap links in small paid directories that are not famous. I believe all these big paid directories are going to be hit one day and your site will be hit with them.

    Tip 5: Exchange links

You might see someone who has a website that is relevant to yours, it's not a bad idea to ask him/her if he wants a link exchange. Also do not over do this.

Tip 6: Quality content gets you links! Believe it!

Quality content is a really big player here, do not underestimate it.
If you are one of those people who is running 10 sites, and updates them with crap content then you won't be getting anywhere. When you have the good stuff people will link to you, I'm not talking about words only, also good picture content. You will get people linking to your pictures too.

    Tip 7: Article Directories

Article directories is another way of getting good links, just don't go posting the same article over and over again.

    Final Words

Remember this is a game of quality, not quantity. If you think that Google is going to rank your website in 1 month because you have 1000000s of links you are wrong. Try as hard as you can to get relevant links, and don't get them fast. Write out a plan of how many links per a month you are going to get and stick to it. Don't go buying link services, and get banned.
Be patient, you will own this website for a very long time. So make it a good one.

Last advice: DO NOT OVER DO LINK BUILDING OR IT WILL FIRE BACK.

@Last advice: DO NOT OVER DO LINK BUILDING OR IT WILL FIRE BACK.

Indeed, but only for new websites or websites with few links. If you have been article marketing for a while using the likes of isnare then you can pretty much do as you wish, gaining 2000 new links per week will no set off any alarms if your article marketing has been spreading links on mass for some time anyway, so yeah, although be wary when you first start you can increase 10 fold as time goes on.

    @ Quality

Sure, quality is good but in many niches you can soon run out of relevant quality links and it is my belief that all links count well over time, especially as they pass agerank, so having tens of thousands of links IS going to have you beat your competitor who has 500....

I'm talking about people starting with new sites, the older your site is (more links it has) the more you can overdo it.

    Thank you for your contribution.

I don't think link exchange really works nowadays. Other points are well taken. A small hint of social bookmarking would be good too :)

Your right about the social bookmarking, but you shouldn't over do it too. Add your site to 10 bookmarkings each two weeks.

I think writing a unique one for every site is better, or a different article.

    Your welcome.
