Of course Vista: easy to do anything, installations, settings, development, powerful, stable realiable.

Bob Mill: try to setup an Windows Server, and you will see that you really need to be a professional. Try to develop real-world apps in .NET: also, you must be a professional. Windows is not equal with just games ;)

don't be a slob dude...not a lot of people have time relearn how to use a new OS. also, who want to spend time to read forum and fix stuff that doesn't work

just update to 8.04 on my t61. I spent hours to get suspense to work on 7.10 and now it is having problem coming back from suspense again (wireless acting funky after wake up)

Why Windows Vista is better than linux. We are having a discussion here:
    http://www.technonix.com/e107_plugin...wtopic.php?615

I’ve compiled different reasons why people love windows vista, or any other windows OS. Currently linux is losing the battle. It’s also a poll using which I’ll create a detailed report. Common guys…lets see which one is better. Visit it at: http://www.technonix.com/e107_plugin...wtopic.php?615

It’s a guest forum so anybody can take part in it ( no registration required).

    Stable? Reliable? Powerful?
ok, it is somewhat powerful, however many, many, people have said that it crashes, reboots for no reason, is incomplete, has tons of bugs. And then there was that sp package that made the computer loop when it started up. I don't think I can trust a OS that crashes for no reason, crashes the whole OS when one program messes up and has a bad name.

I find that .NET is always really slow. Any site I visit or use that is supported by .NET is always painful.

That was before Windows 2000 and I agree. But with Windows 2000 and after, things had really changed. Haven't seen those crashes, bugs, reboots. Maybe it was a HW problem?
I haven't experienced even a BSOD. Actually, I don't even know how a Vista BSOD looks like :)

    Stable? Reliable? Powerful?
Yes, try Windows Server 2008 ;)

Because those servers are slow. The framework is not slow. Because the ASPx page compiles once, and it's not reinterpreted everytime it loads, like in PHP. Just once.

Well, vista happens not to have a blue screen any more, it just crashes and reboots. It's because everyone made fun of the BSOD. Thats just what I've heard. I think that true for the newest version of vista, the older ones might be different.

I actually saw Vista BSoD. It's all the same.

Anyway, I'm going far, far away from this discussion. I mean...some of you are claiming that Vista is powerful, reliable and even stable...Jeez...

I dual boot with Ubuntu and Windows XP. I usually use XP because I like to take a break from work and play a game every so often. Playing around with Linux is just fun, the stability, security and fact that its free make it a great choice for servers. Its also great being able to use an up to date OS on a peice of crap computer.

I voted Linux, I'll wait until Microsofts next OS before I give up XP

I don't like partitions, so I stick with just one. And with Windows.

If I could run my Adobe programs on Linux that is what I would use. That is actually the only reason that I run XP. :(
