Hello, We are looking to possibly switch our hosting provider simply because we keep getting "Out of Memory" errors and all we are doing is hosting a couple wallpaper sites and some content sites and we NEVER got this issue with shared hosting environments, however, we run several websites so we are looking to switch to another VPS. Now, I am going to let you know what we are looking for as far as specs, these are ALL a requirements, so if you can't provide the specific specs I am looking for don't bother messaging me, because they are important. VPS Requirements Needed: At Least 2.5GB Ram Needed (minimum) At Least 50GB Hard Drives (minimum) At Least Access to 2 CPU Cores cPanel/WHM Needed Managed Server If you can provide all the information above or have packages that provide AT LEAST that information, please contact me and let me know what you have, the full packages so I can see, and that prices. Also, I would prefer you have Skype as well, and I may have you move all the stuff off our server as well.
Try HostBlizzard.com Open a sales ticket and they should be able to cater to your needs if they are reasonable.
The guys at Hudson Valley Host have some great deals for managed VPS's, they are worth a look! http://hudsonvalleyhost.com/managedvps.php
shared hosting environments are setup slightly differently to the way a standard cpanel installation would be setup on an average persons VPS. For one, its common for their servers to have 16gb or more ram. meaning that its possible your site was using alot of ram (or had some nasty ram spikes) on shared but "got away with it" as it may have been a relatively quiet box. another thing is that the box might be setup or configured differently. Check out: http://cpnginx.com/ I am pretty sure that all shared hosts would use that (or something similar), but your box wont have this by default. If you try this (14 day free trial) its possible that it will reduce your server load, and ram usage. Simply changing to another vps wont solve the issue, but looking into how to best optimize your current vps is the best solution, as you can then apply these techniques to your next box. Of course, be sure to backup first, but I would definetely try cpnginx before simply switching vps providers. For me, it halved my cpu load. Try it. I admit, I am NOT an expert when it comes to optimization, as I hire someone to work with me for both hardening and optimization, but here are some articles that might help you, either with your current box, or with a future one. http://kb.solarvps.com/server-optimization/optimizing-cpanelwhm/ http://www.liquidweb.com/kb/apache-optimization/ Hope this helps.
Look at VPS deals from vps6.net. This company provides many VPS deals at low prices. And they are stable and reliable. Support is helpful.
I may be interested in your -vCloud Grande X4 if we can get the price down a little bit and if we can do cPanel on it.
http://www.iwfhosting.net/vps/ tell those folks I sent you and they will likely work with you on a few things. I had to take a VPS over from a client who went awol. Every time I have to speak to those folks I get one of the same 2 people(frankly one of the most important things to me). Same specs as a massive company at a fraction of the cost with proper support. Even without my unusually sweet deal from those folks, the plans are about 100 dollars cheaper than a hostgator VPS for the same thing. I am currently 120 dollars cheaper actually. hope that helps. I don't work for those folks FYI. Nigel
