Most of the sites linking to me use the www. structure and that was the one I've set in Google webmaster tools. Infact, I also have a wordpress plug which converts any typing without www. into the one with w3 in front. However, when I search for backlinks on Yahoo, I get about 400 to the address without the www. Now, I was wondering whether the fact that I am 301 directing all the links without www should affect the way I can see my backlinks. In other words, shouldn't the backlinks to simply http:// in front appear under when I search for link:http://www.mysite.com on Yahoo ?
Very nice question. Technically, you can make a 301 redirect from www. to . - or otherwise. But the easiest way is to openn Yahoo, MSN ad Google webmaster accounts and specify the URL form you prefer
