How does the whole link thing work with links that are only there for a certain amount of time? Is there an advantage to buying a link for a year vs. a month? Does a link that stays there for a couple days have any worth? Does the "value" go away after the link goes away? Thank you!
Yes the value goes away if its only there for a month then its gone. It might get you indexed faster, but if the link is gone it won't be supporting your page anymore right? As a general rule, I try to keep all links for at least 6 months. Then if they are working, I renew for another 6 months. The best links are links that become years old.
It takes Google about 6 months to register a link that will pass PR juice. Any short term concept is just a waist of your time. This is where the word "quality" comes from.
Not a bit for SEO. The only possible benefit is traffic. Yes. If the link is gone, you lose the benefit of that link. Brandon
A link does not pass the full juice right away. It takes some time to fully kick in. Links are like wine, they get better with age.
It's best to have permanent links. Temp links might help for a little while but permanent ones are the way to go in order to increase your search engine rankings.
Permanent links are best, however, if it not possible for you due to some reasons, try to keep them for atleast 6 to 8 months or else for short terms links the value is bound to go away.. Links for one month are useless except for the traffic purpose.
So basically being on the front page of Digg or JohnChow.com for a day or something doesn't do anything for your search engine rankings?
Try to get permanent link. Buying links that will stay only for about a month is a waste of time. There's no assurance that the links that you buy can add benefit to your site. And I have read that google can now sees buy links.
