I have a person who would like to pay for a link on my site but not sure if its one of the links that will hurt my site or take my pr? can this be put on my site with no problems or should I not do it???? TY

    here is the code:
<p>When you finally decide to <a href="http://www.address.com/">sell gold for cash</a>, always remember to be smart about it so you won’t be conned by any buyer out of your gold’s real value.</p>

Check the history of his link, if he's linking with bad neighborhoods. It would be better if you just put his link in one of your blog post and not the entire site.

Buying or selling links is against google's policies and can get your site penalized or removed from their rankings.

If you sell advertisements, put a nofollow attribute on links, and clearly identify them as paid advertisements. Anything else is both unethical and against google's policies. Furthermore, you're posting in a public forum that everyone, including google, can read. Just think about that. It's best to stay out of these sorts of deals.

Check PR. If that website has PR1 and above, it is OK to link out to.

Don't just check PR. Personally, I would not add that link because it looks spammy.

As a fellow webmaster, when I see text like that, I immediately think: this webmaster is spammy, either trying to promote their own domain through spammy techniques, or trying to make a fast buck selling to a spammy domain. I would never link to a site that had text like the one you're describing here.

And as an internet user, when I see text like that, I think "this is a spammy site" and close the tab or browser window.

Don't just think about the search engines, think about how other webmasters and how your visitors will perceive your site.
