I have heard a few mentions of different 'advanced' linking strategies, both internal links and external links, and links among a number of sites. Just wondering if someone has som pearls of wisdom for me. I have been thinking about it since I prepared this page: goog to thank Aaron for donating his seo book. We have 3 sites and 3 subdomains, over 500 pages total and the way I did the goog page was: to link every one of our pages to one page within our site theme the page on goog then link to Aaron's site from this page The end result was our goog page came in on page 2 or 3, supporting Aaron's page to achieve number 3 in the serps. So he benefited from a 'local' page within the serps linking to him. Do you think this is more powerful or would it have been more powerful to simply link the 500 or so pages to his page?
watching and listening.... I haven't done this to the extreme you described. I do make "exit" pages sometimes to link between 2 sites that have little in common. Making an intermediate page on site A that is on the main topic of Site B and linking A to B through that page. But, like I said ... this is not nearly to the extent you have described which sounds intriguing.
I really like your 'exit page' strategy, as it is really impractical to go to the extent I have with goog for more than a few phrases. Has the exit page on site A shown up in the serps for site B? When I first read about 'local rank' it really made sense to me so I was hoping to hear some criticizm or support of 'LR' to learn more. PS - I just checked the goog page, Aaron's page is 7th and ours is very local for him at 20th.
