Hello! I have links on the page that are in the text. They are not hidden just not underlined and have the some color as other text (underlining appears when mouse is over them). Among these links there are links that point to this page itself. Is any danger that it`s can be defined by Google and other search engines as some kind of spam? If it`s not dangerous, is it helpful ? Any opinions will be greatly appreciated. Thank`s
I can not answer for anyone but myself but I have footer links on many of my pages. Put all links in file called footer and use CSI to include footer into appropriate pages. This way if I want to add a link do not have to add to every page. As to orinal question posed do not think there is a problem with practice. Shannon
Hi Alshurf... No, there is no danger in that at all... It doesn't hold any benefit that I know of either. I assume you are using them for anchor type links...
the only reason i can think of is if your are repositioning the area of the page which the browser displays (on a tall page) - in which case you'll have the # sign followed by the name you've called the are of the page - i'm sure G won't penalise you for this. if it's just a straight link to the same page i wouldn't think G would penalise either -but neither do i think it would help - if it does it must be very minimal. edit - oops! posted before i saw u'r post smyrl - and now i think about it i've got pages that link to themselves on my site!
just about everyone does this. I, like Shannon, have include files for all of the menus on my sites. At some point you will be on the same page as a link in the menu. No biggie.
