I have got about 40-50 backlinks to my site (most of them are from relevent sites and a few from forums), but when I seach Google for link:www.explore-mobiles.com the message being displayed is Your search - link:www.explore-mobiles.com - did not match any documents. What could the reason be?
This is normal - Google doesn't show you all the links, and it only updates a few times a year. Don't worry about it. Enter your "link:" query into MSN or Yahoo instead, or use the excellent iWebTools Backlinks Checker. Cryo.
You can have google email you when they see a backlink to your site. Go to Google Alerts enter the search term link:www.yoursite.com - they will send you an alert everytime that query is seen.
Thank you tursfniffer, I was not aware of google alerts, this will help in finding a good keyword for my site
If you enter "www.explore-mobiles.com" in quotes into Google search it will return the number of times this is found - at time of wrting it was 411 for your site. This is closer to the number of links Google really knows about, however this will contain duplicate links from the same website including your own, so unique site backlinks will be less.
