I came across an SEO site providing the method of calculating our PR : PRA = 1-d + d*( PRs1/Cs1 + PRs2/Cs2 + PRs3/Cs3 + ... + PRsn/Csn) Where PRA - PageRank of a page A PRsi - PageRank of page si which links to A; i ranges from 0 to n, n is the total number of all incoming links. The linking page may be any page on the internet within any domain. Csi - Number of outbound links on page si, which has given the link. d - Damping factor whose value is between 0 and 1. Usually 0.85, And conclusion is made : To gain PR 1, you'll need backlinks from: 15 PR1, or 3 PR2 To gain PR 2, you'll need backlinks from : 81 PR1, or 15 PR2, or 3 PR3 To gain PR 3, you'll need backlinks from : 444 PR1, or 81 PR2, or 15 PR3, or 3 PR4 To gain PR 4, you'll need backlinks from : 2444 PR1, or 444 PR2, or 81 PR3, or 15 PR4, or 3 PR5 To gain PR 5, you'll need backlinks from : 13442 PR1, or 2444 PR2, or 444 PR3, or 81 PR4, or 15 PR5, or 3 PR6 To gain PR 6, you'll need backlinks from : 73931 PR1, or 13442 PR2, or 2444 PR3, or 444 PR4, or 81 PR5, or 15 PR6, or 3 PR7 To gain PR 7, you'll need backlinks from : 406621 PR1, or 73931 PR2, or 13442 PR3, or 2444 PR4, or 444 PR5, or 81 PR6, or 15 PR7, or 3 PR8 To gain PR 8, you'll need backlinks from : 2236418 PR1, or 406621 PR2, or 73931 PR3, or 13442 PR4, or 2444 PR5, or 444 PR6, or 81 PR7, or 15 PR8, or 3 PR9 To gain PR 9, you'll need backlinks from : 12300297 PR1, or 2236418 PR2, or 406621 PR3, or 73931 PR4, or 13442 PR5, or 2444 PR6, or 444 PR7, or 81 PR8, or 15 PR9, or 3 PR10 To gain PR 10, you'll need backlinks from : 67651631 PR1, 12300297 PR2, or 2236418 PR3, or 406621 PR4, or 73931 PR5, or 13442 PR6, or 2444 PR7, or 444 PR8, or 81 PR9, or 15 PR10 INTERESTING.
yes this is good formula but it is too old..and may be google has changes this formula with other factors........
Concentrate on Quality contents. They will slowly but surely bring you good backlinks from quality & related sites. Those backlinks will give you good traffic. & forget PR.
its fine page rank is very important in a web site but now days Google not only see back links lots other method how yours site perform in different variants of search engines and also matter your site in all search engines read and visit well you-like.net
In my own case, I was PR 3 for over one year, during that time I went from 1000 backlinks to over 5000, when I finally got my well-deserved PR 4. Based on what you're saying, I'll need to have 15,000 links (of any type) to gain PR 5. However, a handful of high-PR links would produce the same benefit: 1) Yahoo Directory ($299 per year) 2) Best Of the Web Directory (??? cost ???) 3) .org links from University students (??? cost ???) 4) purchase an advertisement (not buying a link) from a web site that is PR 5
That's quite interesting I must say. Never knew the logic behind PR stratification. Thanks for posting it here.
Formulas like this have been available on the internet for a long time. There's no telling what Google is currently using.
Now I'm curious......how many DP links are counted when you have over 3000 posts here? The only reason I'm asking is because I keep seeing an increase in the number of DP links counted in GWT and YSE (and I only have 300 posts). Do the links keep building in numbers, or does it reach a CAP at a certain point. Where is the point of diminishing returns? (The reason I ask is because I'm starting to make a surge in Yahoo, as I've already conquered Google-- and the quantity of links seems to make a causal effect on Yahoo SERP)
I don't think that's true. One of my pages got to PR3 very quickly with only a few high PR links and I think only 1 or two were PR3 and the rest were PR 1. The page was also linked to a lot of ezine articles and those pages have no PR though the site as a whole has a high PR. But those ezine article pages have a high trust rank which makes even PR0 ezine article pages extremely powerful. In addition, I think I posted to one PR3 page which was extremely relevant and had a high trust rank. So that's why my page suddenly got PR 3 when it didn't seem to deserve it. At least it seem to deserve it from a link PR amount standpoint. Also I have another page which I've linked to far more sites than the PR3 page and it is still at PR0. When I say ezine articles I mean http://www.articledashboard.com and http://www.ezinearticles.com Ezine articles is especially powerful because those pages can be optimized to a high ranking in Google or MSN (These are PR0 pages with a lot of trust rank.) quite easily. Articledashboard stuff can get to a high ranking on Google. So my conclusion is that my PR 3 page has it's PR 3 because: The few high PR relevant links in addition to the high trust rank ezine article and article dashboard pages. My PR0 page has failed to obtain PR (though it does have high rankings for some terms.) because it few one way backlinks from ezine articles and articledashboard. Does anyone have a similar story?
Although that may be true, I have a pr3 blog that jumped up without hardly any backlinks. Adding LOTS of content does wonders. To get to a pr5 or higher is much trickier so you are probably right about that!
Not sure. I checked my second signature link (below), which is an inner page. It had about 150 DP links to it listed in Webmaster Tools.
