We all build links and trying to maintain our sites on the best way, for the search engines. The real question is how to divide the site building and "first push" and the second step, which is the maintenance. Exp: new UK horse courses site, have got hundreds of links on first 60 days to build the site in the SE's at stage 1. Now, in order to keep it up and to raise it higher, the webmaster is maintaining the site with 5 links a day ( not talking about content management, but its happens in parallel ).
