Links from wikipedia most likely won't help much with SEO their nofollow but they can still bring some traffic to your site.
First of all, a link from a site like Wikipedia has value even if its a nofollow link. It might not pass on the PR but it surely has lot of value. But in no case one should try this method as its most likely that it won't stay there. Moreover, it can be of a great help if your site has very worthwhile information on the subject with is unique and powerfull and can convince the editors that its not a spam. If the editors don;t remove it then most probably it will stay. I have tried this for a non profit organisation site and the link stays there as it does help a social cause.
My point exactly! If your website truly has worth to the wikipedia article or even better the wikipedia article is quoting your info then it will stay up there and you will gain benefit from the traffic and other sites that scrap wiki may have a dofollow link. You would not got any link love from wiki directly but the subsequent benefits can be great. Do not spam wiki though - provide good worth and you will get the benefit.
Wikipedia and Yahoo answers link are nofollow i think, Which is not important for search engines. So its useless to build link from there. Correct me if i am wrong
Useless if you're looking strictly in terms of SERPs. But no, it's definitely not useless (hint: read the whole thread before replying)
Putting a URL on Wikipedia give you a lot of visitors not link juice but humans. What else? I have 2 URL in wikipedia and I get good traffic.
Thats what I thought. If its a relevant link to the subject and others find your link as they research an article they are writing they will link to you directly. So it doesn't directly give you link juice but it can led to it from other sites.
Depends on your niche, the external links from WIKI could be nonfollow. And they are easily remove your link at any time without notice. They are very sensitive about anything that might appear to be commercial.
