I just noticed that I got a link from a BBC news article. It is placed under the 'related internet links' section to the right of the article. Not sure how it got there though! - Is bringing me good traffic though! And is using my preferred anchor text! Notting
I'm doing a project where getting links from the BBC is one of my main goals. Am I right in guessing your site doesn't look commercial at all at first sight?
Congratulations! BTW, i got a link from yahoo recently.. but i dont know it can be considered as a link here is the URL (in the sidebar) http://in.ourcity.yahoo.com/kochi/blogs
Yeah we had a link from the Beeb last year (actually over 2 years ago) on an article we listed - it was in the business section (about money and investment) - again how the heck we got it was beyond me! also we have in the past had links from GMTV, Telegraph and Independent - (all links lasted between 3 and 6 months) BBC link was active for longer - sadly gone now!! archived in the sky! Drove great traffic.
I had a link to one of my sites from the Beeb for quite a while. It generated around 60% of my traffic. Unfortunately they've just redesigned the section of the site it was on and taken all the external links off Shame cuz it was definitely a contributing factor towards traffic and PageRank
Hey, Well done mate. I received an endorsement the other day from Business Guru, Sir Alan Sugar of the UK, who owns Amstrad and a host of other businesses where he personally recommended the services my company has to offer. From that i am getting a lot of traffic and have got a few sales from it too.
