Folks.. maybe its my niche, but I know of a number of sites that get tons of traffic, but that have no PR.. But they are related to my niche. Am I wasting my time getting a link from them.. It seems like I should get some credit? Thoughts
Don't worry about the PR. Worry about getting your site to the top of the SERPs. Then your traffic will come. Yes - you could try to get your link posted on their site - but it will be tough.
There are two plus points. Site is related to your theme. And Site received good amount of traffics. I think if you can get a backlink from there then SEs will give you good response (If dofollow link) or you will receive good amount of traffics (If no follow). So, You should try to get a backlinks from there. Thanks Manual Submission Team
I think there is a direct relationship the higher the PR the chance to be on the top of the SERP and the chance to get more traffic coming from the organic search.
PR is not always correlated with SERPs and traffic. Many people doesn't even care about PR, they said PR just usefull if you want to sell links or join paid review program.
you have not Wasting time. Getting Back links for the relevant website is useful for the Improving SERPs.
if those websites are related to your niche, then you're not wasting time .it will help you for better results in the SE
Yes, they are absolutely related..I honestly just didnt see the corelation.. how would one get PR from sites with no PR..But I guess that is different from results in SEs
I have never seen any hard stats on SEO.. just a lot of empirical evidence.. I think that is what makes it so challenging.. Its a lot testing and experimenting.. Which is also the reason for reward..
I've heard from somebody who appeared to be an SEO expert that it was simply a myth. Personally, I don't care much what niche the content is. If it gives me a backlink, it's not going to hurt.
I tend to agree with ItalianHawk. Karateguy I was looking at your backlinks for the prokarateshop and noticed that most of your links are within the site itself. You know more about it than I do but I do but am noticing some sites ranking using a lot of internal links and fewer inbound links.
did I miss something guys, do you mean my pages linking to themselves? If you mean, internal pages.. I just wanted pages with actual products to get the most attention.. not just my homepage
Hi, What you are describing is deep linking URL's. This is an extremely effective way of capturing your 'targeted audience'. For example, Karate Uniform, you link into that page with the URL www.karate.com/karateuniform. Whilst this is a fantastic way of driving targeted traffic to your website, you do need to look after your homepage as well, because if this page is easily navigable, then the user WILL click through. So yes, do deep link URL's, but remember you need to be linking your homepage too. In regards to PageRank of incoming links, obviously its nice to get a relevant PageRank 3/4 link, but at the end of the day, they are far and few and between me and you, our clients aren't always tied in with industry relevant sites and they rank 1 for some VERY generic search phrases, so I wouldn't say beat yourself up over relevancy either. Social bookmarking is also a great way to shout about your site. Try stumble upon, DIGG, technorati - you can find a useful list here: http://www.zeronese.net/webmaster-resources/communities/social-bookmarking Hope this helps and message me if you need any help Jamie McKaye Head of search marketing i3media
