Links from PR0 page whose homepage is PR6

Kind of new to all of this, so I hope somebody can help me.

If I get links from a site whose homepage has PR6 but the link page has PR0, how will that effect the link?

Will it simply count as a PR0 link?

    Thanks.

Okay, just to show I'm not totally useless I did some investimigation [sic].

So a link page with PR0 coming from a PR6 homepage may be because the links page is new and not had time to be ranked by Google.

A reasonable way of checking this is by using archive.org and seeing if it shows up. If not then it may be new, but pages can be hidden so it's not 100% accurate. If it is there then there is most likely no value beyond any other PR0 page to linking.

Check that the links page is linked to from the homepage. If not, do not link.

Best way of checking this is to search for the URL in the source page.

In the appropriate source file we can also check for "nofollow" tags, dynamic links and the robots.txt file to see if there is a command to stop spiders. If any of those show then do not link unless you have a very good reason to.

Check that it doesn't take more than 2/3 clicks from the homepage to get to the page your link is on. If it does then it's likely that the links page will never gain much if any PR.

So in conclusion, new links pages with PR0 coming from a decent PR homepage may be worth linking with, depending on the above points. Always check to confirm before making any links or link requests.

Anybody care to elaborate on or correct anything I've said?

    I might add one thing

A PR6 or higher site might be considered an "Authority" site. If a trusted site on the same topic as your site links to you some of that "trust" may be passed too. If Google feels that a site is a good site about a certain topic and they choose to link to your site, then it is a good bet that your site must be a good site on the topic too.
