    HI

ihave just moved into the world of article posting in order to improve the backlinks to my sites, using software which will post to 400 odd article sites, of which at least 250 are pr 4 and higher. The question i have (forgive me, am new to this area) is lets say i post an article now, it gets approved and its on the site this time tomorrow. How longwould i have to wait to see some benefit from being linked to from a say pr6 or pr 7 site?

Am i right (i think i read ti somewhere) that whilst the pr of a domain updates in the tool bar every few months the actual website pr can update in a matter of a few days by getting some links, but obviously you cant see this in your browers? Or do i have to wait until the next pr update overall to see my domains rank better?

    with regards

    carl

Yes, you're absolutely right on that point (see Googler Matt Cutts blog for more info) - the internal Google PR value is on a rolling update all of the time. Backlinks are only exported to the link: operator of the public search engine at the same time as PR updates, so your backlinks might not be obvious publicly (on Google) for a few months - however, they are usually picked up by Yahoo and MSN quite quickly.

To find out whether or not you're getting links, check to see if your article has been added to Google's index. What I usually do is copy and paste an entire line from my signature in quotes and search for it in Google. That will give you a good idea of how many links you've gotten.

The problem is in deciphering the quality of these links. Most of the time the links will be of decidedly low quality, but with each submission, there are usually a few diamonds in the rough.

You probably won't be seeing the benefit of these links for a few months (that has been my experience), Although, if you have not yet been indexed, these will be excellent links for you.

The links you obtain from the article directories more than likely aren't going to be what help you rank. What will help you is when other quality sites republish your article. Again, the key word is quality. To get more quality links you need to write a truly useful and unique article.

Yes, exactly. The SERP that Google shows already in-corporates all the backlinks :)
