Links Directory - missing something....

I have created a links directory from scratch. In some aspects I think it is better than most, but I would like to know where you feel improvements could be made. I intend to wrap up the code and put it somewhere like Hotscripts for free - just to spread the love.

    http://betterwindowssoftware.com/directory/index.html

The submissions can be activated via an email (the easiest option), but I recently found that there is a glitch in that when encoding specific characters. The reliable way for now is to either PM me here or reply to this thread.

Another activation method would be to publish a backlink from the directory. This is one of those things that I believe would make it a better linking system. I guess that this admits one shortcoming of the script - the lack of documentation in some places.

This reminds me in so many ways of Dmoz, but I don't browse directories often, nor do I review them. Infact, this is my first directory review -- ever.

How does this set itself apart from the rest of the saturatated market?

The navigation could also be improved. Default link colours aren't that wonderful, and you could do something a little more artistic and aesthetically pleasing.

Thanks for the feedback -- do you think that the print is too big? Is it mostly the colors of the links that you didn't like, or the fact that the listings are all in no apparent order (sorted by PageRank)?

The one thing that really makes this script better than others is that submitted links can be activated by publishing a backlink to any link from the directory. This is better in two ways - first, the link you select to publish can be more relevant to your site (which helps with your page's identity in the eyes of the bots) - second, your link may be selected by somebody who is just activating their new submission which is a feature that should encourage more submissions, eh?
