Links between subdomains

How much are links between subdomains worth? For example a link from http://sub.mysite.com to http://www.mysite.com.

I know that Google and other recognize sites from the same IP-address and don’t value them as high but are they worth anything?

no one can give you a relation something like: X links from subdomain value the same as Y links from different IPs (if that's what you ask...)

Yeah the question wasn’t perfectly clear, I realize that now. I guess that I wanted to know something like what you said nobody could give me (X links from subdomain value the same as Y links from different IPs).

I am trying to decide on if I should use http://www.mydomain.com/topic/content.htm or http://topic.mydomain.com/content.htm. So I where interested to see if I could transfer PR from one subdomain to another.

As an example is it really stupid to use:
    http://tennis.sport.com & http://soccer.sport.com
    compared to:
    http://www.sport.com/tennis & http://www.sport.com/soccer
in a SEO point of view?

I want the first one as I am planning on using different styles (or themes) on the different categories. But I rather have a high ranking in the search engines.

tennis.sport.com will rank better than sport.com/tennis because /tennis will be a deep link so it will have less value

You can map a subdomain to a path, achieving both.

What do you mean by “map a subdomain to a path” Acroplex? I’m really new to all this…

Ok, I’ll try that… But is it enough to redirect site.com/keyword to keyword.site.com or do I have to link to site.com/keyword as well?
