    Got a new site.

was excited to see 1400 indexed pages in just under two weeks.

I thought this was cool, and things are moving pretty good if I am
getting indexed this good in such a short amount of time, and links
were being added daily, or so it seems, then it stopped...

now my indexed links appear to be crashing...it stopped at 1400
and now I seem to be around 1200 in just 2-3 days...

Is this because the domain is fairly new? If so then why did I get
a large gain in just a short time to start falling, that doesnt make since.

All this article marketing just does not appear to be paying off, where
I think I should be gaining links, hell, I am losing them left and right.

    any ideas from the experts?

It might be too early to tell yet. Usually 2-4 months of continuous link building is needed until the ranking position settles. So just keep on building those links, diversifying link sources as much as possible.

You cannot expect to build 10,000 links in a span of 1-2 months. Due to the recent change in algorithm from google some websites were impacted with backlinks and also ranks. Your is just a mere drop of 200 links so that isn't a major concern for you. Just work on long term strategy(3-6months). It will fetch you good results there after
