    Hello!

Looking for some feedback in your likes and dis-likes in a directory or various directories.

I'm in between work now (lol!), and have a bit of time on my hands and have been posting to various directories. Some cool - some so-so.

Basically what I'm after is ...

What do you like to see in a directory before adding your URL (i.e., PR )

    Happy wednesday night!

    Good PR.

Plain HTML links. (No CGI/PHP/JavaScript links that don't pass PR.)

Lots of categories, especially for my hard-to-place sites.

No irrelevant questions on the application. (Do they really need my address and phone number?)

A search feature that display the category pages in the results. This helps me find the right category.

    Proper spelling.

Getting good pr is a bit diffucult in the beginning, just get every page indexed first and get links to your directory to build pr and incomming traffic.
What I like a lot is when submissions automaticly get meta descriptions from sites, search options are important and also the directory should have static urls for categories, not something like index.php?c=234&p=11. Do not use a link-out script so the directory doesn't pass pr. Build lots of categories.

My directory has this all. But i dint quite get what u spoke abt the automatic meta description grabber. Any directroy which has this? Mine grap the PR if its more than 1.

And how long will it take to get a boost in PR?

for instance hotvsnot uses it: see also hotvsnot.com/addurl/?c=118 when you type in your url it will be instantly crawled for title, description, and keywords so you don't have to type it.

A boost in PR is difficult to say, it depents on many factors, getting many decent incomming links is one of them.

I like directories with a clean design, many categories and not too many links per page.
I like to see some submission rules.

I agree with Will: displaying a link to category pages on search results is an essential feature.

I don't like diectories that list sites with long titles full of keywords or poorly written descriptions.

I don't like when category pages are full of Adsense ads. I don't mind to see 1-2 ads but having to scroll every page to find the real listings is quite annoying.

I don't like pop-ups (even if it's true that I've not found many directories that use them)

A search function that can correctly search when you type a URL in the search field.. makes it easy to see if my site is allready listed, since I cannot allways remember the exact text I submit to a directory (plus I mix it up anyway)

I'm trying to make my directory to be what I'd like other directories to be, so if anyone wants to know what I like from a directory is welcome to visit it. ;)
