Hi, I'm currently attempting to build a few backlinks and have signed up with linkmetro to get the ball rolling. Im going the manual route as of now but I have to say I am not impressed with it as a service. So far I've submitted around 50 link requests and as of now not one site has even had the courtesy to reject me. So while my link requests go ignored my site is providing free one way links to the sites Im requesting an exchange from. Is this the norm, am I wasting my time? Would anyone recommend me pursuing this course or am I on a hiding to nothing. Apologies if this has been covered before but I'm on a steep learning curve here I feel....

Tried to use linkmetro but as you said it is pretty lousy why I need to put link to other party when I request link exchange and before the other party approve it.

I use linkmarket.net it is better then linkmetro but basic free membership allow request of only 5 link exchanges per day.
On linkmarket you can sort out possible link exchange partners by date they become members, new members will exchange link more likely than older ones.
