LinkMetro won't allow account deletion

Anyone else have this problem? I don't want to use LinkMetro. On their site, they make no provision for deleting one's account. I have e-mailed them and asked them to delete my account, to no avail.

I don't wish to take part - anyone else have similar dealings with the site, and did you find a way to delete your account, or otherwise, any suggestions?

Ferret, yes, the e-mails are bothering me. But more, what's bothering me is that the site doesn't make any provisions for removing your account (or, your only account I should say - I had two, deleted one, and there is no way to delete the remaining one). I don't at this time want to take part. Because of the way sites are listed, posting the number of acceptances and rejections, all that will be seen is that my site rejects hundreds of sites. I'd rather just remove the account. And I'm bothered that in addition to not being able to remove the account, my requests to do so have been ignored. It's just not the way I do business. I know that if someone were to ask me to be removed as a link, for example, on my site, it would be something I'd want to honor, without question.

Well there might be a way to turn the emials off, or you could change you email address to some fake email so the emails get bounced

    Hi,
HIDE the website from their directory .
So no one will be able to see your site when they browse the directory for link parteners .
This will stop the email .
Deletion I think will remove your DOMAIN from their database and then later may be it cannot be added . So later if you want to participate , you cannot...

To hide go to manage websites section , and then at the extreme right hand corner next to the domain , there is an link saying HIDE. Click it .
    Regards
    Jeet

    I hate link metro.

Its site like these that flood my inbox every day with their requests. I mean... Come on! They expect to get a PR5, sitewide, high quality, header link that gets 800 daily uniques for that?

    http://www.debtcon solidationfacts.com/

    http://becomingareal estateagent.com/links/index.htm

    etc

So you reject them saying... Reason: "Your site is banned in google, it has the lowest alexa rank, it is using black hat SEO, Its violating adsense TOS, Its a link farm and it simply sucks" and they reply with: "Thats not a good reason not to swap links with us"

I did't realize they allowed you to ask for anything specific I thought you could just ask for a link exchange or an article exchange.

    Jeet - thanks.

I think it still blows that this site won't honor deletion requests.

Write to them and tell them it is illegal for them not to honor your deletion request and then they will. (I've checked with an attorney and it is illegal).

But they don't mean any harm, in my experience their intentions are all good, its just that once your account is deleted, anyone you have linked up with via LinkMetro can't check their linkback from you via the system anymore.

I agree - LinkMetro was a great idea when it FIRST started and only allowed sites in that had decent, established PR. So it was a bunch of good sites trading worthwhile links.

But now they let ever scammer join and I very, very rarely get a decent link request anymore. Just low quality, PR0, uncached, unspidered sites, garbage. SUCH a pity. I would happily pay to belong to a system link LinkMetro that only accepted sites with minimum PR4 and certain number of cached pages. (so at least there is some quality control). Keeping it small and exclusive - I'd pay for that anytime.

Actually, LinkMetro is owned by a top SEO expert. I've read his books and used his techniques to get my website to PR4. I think the reason people don't like is because of some tacky websites that goes through their system. I do catch a few but can also delete them. But overall a great services from a great guy. I won't mention his name here.
