I have ten sites now and am wondering if it is a good idea to link them all together. Will google penalize for this? Should I only link niche specific sites together or any and all of them? I appreciate your input, GD
Personally I avoid cross linking my own websites. Many people consider this to be against Google's Terms & Conditions. I don't think it is worth risking my websites' long term success in exchange for short term gains. That being said, many people do cross link their websites and get away with it....for how long, who knows.
Don't link them UNLESS you have different who is name, different servers (C-Class IP) etc etc. If you really need some links to them better create some phantom niche wp/blogger blogs and send links to your sites. Don't forget to create new email accounts to activate blogs > Gmail is a big NoNo. Good luck.
I dissagree with this, i have about 10 sites linking together and just now some of them are experiencing serps way higher than i thought i would even acheive. They are all on same hosting, all same who is etc. Just dont go crazy with it and im sure u'll be fine
I would link together the ones that are relevant. It seems that links from related sites tend to weigh more than unrelated ones. Because there is the possibility for Google to view linking the sites together as black hat, but also the possibility of a big payoff in terms of SERP, you should just link the ones that are actually related.
I link some of my sites together with no problem, and many other companies do the same thing. News sites, Night Clubs, Music sites, TV networks, Insurance Companies. It is a very common practice and I have never seen any Google terms that say sites within the same company cannot be linked together. If that were the case CNN would be on the bottom of the serps.
I think cross linking from different c-class ips WITHOUT different whois data is asking for trouble from big G. Nobody would pay for different c-class unless they were trying to cheat the system...Google knows that too.
Linking them all could be a problem. You should use SEO hosting for that purpose Here is a decent company that provide seo hosting: http://www.seohosting.com/ if you decide to go that way.
Stick to linking sites together that are relevant to each other. That way the big G won't penalize you.
lol why you would get penalized the same ip links just get less authority than ones that have different ip. I always have some sites linked together for some having traffic in my network
i too wouldnt prefer interlinking too much. But maybe you may bring 2 to 3 one way links to one of your blogs.
Hey, thanks for the replies. It looks to be 50-50 for the thoughts on this subject. Tell me, why would google penalize someone for doing this? I just don't see where it hurts anything and does google believe all traffic, marketing procedures should be manual, hand written? Has anyone actually linked their sites together and seen google bang them for it, personal experiences? Regards, GD
Only interlink the related sites. Don't do sitewides in a footer. Link where you think your visitors will benefit from the content on the other site and you won't run a foul of Google.
unless you have thousands of websites with different IPS address any linking will not get much juice. Linking sites with the same ips address as sub-domains is a useless way to generate traffic. Different addresses not different domain is what determines your success. for example if you live at 10 maple st and i live at 10 maple st any link between us will not carry much weight.
