Hi all, I have a dedicated server with a single IP address, at the moment I have one website running, so i've been adding my links to directories (paid & free) when ever I find them. That's great, but when I setup my other sites, will I have to find seperate directories? Because my sites are all on the same IP address, will google penalise at all if one directory is linking to 2-3 of my sites? Id appreciate anyones views or advice on this. Thanks, Matt.
Although I don't know definite answer to your question, i know that if you host your site on the shared server you have the same IP address with maybe 200-300 people. Lets say (for example) that those people have in overall 600 sites on that signle computer. Lets say that 10 sites of that number have DMOZ listing. Why would google devaluate those 10 listing in DMOZ because they are on the same address? Conclusion : because 600 hosts could be on the single computer, and they could belong to different owners, it could be big posibility that one directory links to more than one host on that computer. It wouldn't be fair ranking if you devaluate those listings.
There is absolutely no problem if you have your sites hosted on the same IP and you get links from the same directory or even the same page. There is absolutely no problem as the sites are completely different. IT
