Song lyrics are copyright protected. You cannot post them without permission. There have been some pretty aggressive lawsuits filed and some of the larger sites have now agreed to pay a fee. Linking to copyrighted material, even if it isn't hosted on your site, is also considered contributory infringement - at least in the US.

Copyright infringement is cause to have your adsense account terminated - but you can also be sued for damages.

If you are from India then as per Law if you link to any website that hosts or promoted illegal MP3 downloads then you are in serious problem. Google Adsense will definitely ban you and music companies can also create problems.
But I don't think there is anything serious about posting lyrics.

Probably. This is not the best business. Try to make something more useful for the interest of all.

Linking to sites where songs can be illegally downloaded is considered promoting copyright infringement. Google takes that kind of stuff very seriously.

I have seen lots of webmasters here on digital point that have had their sites delisted and banned from google for linking to sites that promote copyright infringement.

Linking is only considered contributory infringement in certain places (US is one) and there is a huge difference between linking to a site saying you like it vs. providing a link to a specific copyrighted piece of work.

The question was if it was legal to link to MP3 downloads. The answer is, not in the US. It's also a violation of the adsense TOS, so you can lose your account - and I would say that the chance of that happening is very good if you operate long enough.

If you want to debate the chances of being sued, the risk is probably proportional to the size of your site, although even a small site is taking a risk. Do you want to risk losing everything for a 1% chance of being sued? Would you rob a bank if you knew there was only a 1 in 20 chance of being caught? Copyright infringement can be a criminal charge in the US. In extreme cases, people have gone to prison for years.

Last I heard, the Pirate Bay owners had been sentenced to a year in jail and given a $3.6 million dollar fine. It was just sold and "Reuters reports that the new owners hope to make the site completely legal and “introduce (business) models which entail that content providers and copyright owners get paid for content that is downloaded via the site.”

There are many websites which are intended to provide free songs or song downloads. I dont think that G has banned any of them till date due to this reason.

Yea, its real funny how the owners of pirate bay are going to jail for 1 year. Oh yea, I bet they thing its jut one big party behind prison bars.

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Pirate_Bay#Legal_issues
And after the jail time, they have massive fines to pay off.

    http://www.wired.com/threatlevel/2009/04/pirateverdict/

So what if your website has a page rank of 7 when your in jail? Guys, yall need to take a look at the bigger picture here. Being delisted from google is the least of your concerns when it comes to copyright infringement.

The answer to your question is no, Google will not ban you for linking to a song downloading website. But be courteous as it is illegal.
