Linking to casino sites. How harmful is it?

Discussion in 'Google' started by link_dev, Dec 24, 2007.

There are 4 links on my PR 5 site and they are paying around $30 per month on the average.

Will it harm my site? I have very few outgoing links and massive incoming links. All incoming links are 99.99% related to my site, while all the outgoing links (8 of them) are unrelated.

Does anybody have experience linking to casino and gambling sites?

Well I can say this for sure ... it's a gamble ... ha ha ha

in all seriousness, you risk linking to 'bad neighborhoods' which will severely affect your trustrank.

Since this is in the Google forum I'm guessing you're asking if it's against the terms and could get you banned.

Yes, it could get you banned. Linking to anything that offers gambling can so don't do it.

So all gambling sites should be avoided, what about chemist type sites mainly the good ones, what about real estate. These sort of sites are a complete nightmare and constantly being submitted, paid a free?????

links to PPC (pills, porn and casino) sites are the sites are commonly considered to be bad neighborhoods by G, that's why this kind of links are not allowed in tnx.net.
Such links may lower your Trustrank and be a flag for google that you are selling links

I am in the gambling biz...and well....I obviously link to them as my site is gambling related.....In general terms try to avoid linking to sites that are not related to your content regardless of niche

I agree. I have removed all those links for now and requested them to enter new deals with nofollow tags.
I will wait and see how they will respond back.

It's up on your site topic. "PPC" are not considered as a good neighborhood but Google does not hate your site really when you linked to "Porn Pill Casino". They just hate if off-topic sites cross linking trying to manipulate their results. If your site topic is about porn, pill, casino then it should have no problem. Anyway, try to avoid this type of link is better.
