Linking to a site with "greyed out" PR

I recently received an article that had a url in the resource box that "greyed out" the PR toolbar in my browser when viewing the page. The homepage of the site has a healthy PR, but i'm unsure whether I should link to a page which is greyed out or not? Is there any explanation why it may be greyed out or does it mean the page is banned by google?

    Thanks for any help.

The only reasons why I think it could be greyed out is because it may be banned from Google or it is a secure website https

grayed can be also because of the page is not cached by google. When the site's home page has nice Pr then it can't be banned. When you submit an article it can't get crawled immediately by search engines, hence the gray bar. I don't think you shoudl worry about it.
