Linking question, very important

I'm working for this site, and basically all the links it gets are from example.com/2626 or example.com/1236 because people are usually using referral links. So, I'm trying to get some SEO going, and it's involving people using their referral links with the appropriate anchor text, but since it's a referral link and isn't going directly to the site, is it worthless?

 

No, referral links are useful if you use 301 redirect.

 

What about 302 redirect? That's what is being used; a 301 can't because then people wouldn't be credited for their referrals.

So 302 does nothing for SEO? So if I have 1000 links with the proper anchor text going to an example.com/2025 referral link, then those links won't have any effect on example.com 's SEO?!

 

302 is blocked in the SE's. So 302 will do nothing. you must have 301!

 

Dammit! This is bad! I'll have to think about a way around this...

 

just store the affiliate code in a $_SESSION and do a 301 redirect
