Ive read some posts about linking, and one of them mention "shady linking practices" and that google would catch up to it. Whats the difference between legit linking and shady? I guess legit is paying for links on real sites or exchanging , not directories or mfa like sites?
Have a look at the Google webmaster guidance: http://www.google.com/support/webmasters/bin/answer.py?answer=35769#quality The big thing they hate is hidden links, hidden text and link farms (pages with thousands and thousands of links loaded with keywords). Genuine links would be those from link exchanges, purchases and comments. Links in directories and MFA sites are genuine unless they fall into the sneaky hidden/link farmy category mentioned before.
