linking my stylesheet to my index file---newbie

    is this the correct code to add into my index file:

    <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="stylesheet.css" />

    Then i just need to upload the stylesheet.css to my top level of my FTP along with my index file correct? Thanks a lot
