Linking from a dot instead of a text link?

Hi,

A text link from a good PRed site to another gives a good PR to the linked site this is ok. But how about not text link if the link is from just a dot? I mean think about a dot which has an anchor tag to the site. Does this also earns a reputation to the linked site?

Sure you would get the PR benefit, same as any other link, but you would not gain the benefit of useful anchor text.

Actually one of the casino sites made an unbelievable offer so I am thinking about linking to their site with a dot...

 

If you simply do it for PR reasons - go ahead - you'll get your part of their PR

But I'd better bother about SERPs, not PR

 

i once needed to have such a link as the client didnt want us to write something like " hosted by Featuredhost "

 

I think this could be penalized ... it's simillar with hidden text
