Ok, I have a games section with flash/etc games.... I recently found out that some smart alec has linked a few of my .swf files to his/her site.. So, I've blocked all my .swf/etc files now from referrers (using hotlinking blocking).... However, can I do anything else like contacting the hosting company, etc? As they didn't gain permission, not that they'd get it!!..... TIA Site : maxior{.}pl An offending page : maxior{.}pl/?p=index&id=4638&7
Sounds like you handled the situation. Do you think you need to continue the issue, after you 'won'? If you really want to pursue it, you might just write a letter of complaint about their customer 'stealing bandwidth' of your, and unauthorized use of your material. Having your hosting company tell you(the offender) that they received a complaint letter should put some fear in them. hth, tom
But doesnt it use a bit bandwidth to ''request'' the file(s) even if theyre blocked (bandwidth is like gold over here lol)? If it doesn't, then I'll leave it
agree with mdvaldosta. In fact, wrmineo pointed this out in one of this threads. Search that thread. You may get more visitors to your site.
I hope you just didnt just do a htaccess to protect ur swf? Doesn't work, flash players in IE don't send referrers so its useless.
Replace the flash file with something really annoying. Something very loud. You could have a lot of fun with it if you're devious minded.
