Is this a correct statement? The more times a page is linked throughout a site, the more important Google interprets that page as being to your site and in SERPs. I ask because we use an in house affiliate app to tag our links, but am worried that using different affiliate ID's is hurting our link popularity. IE: www.mysite.com/product-page.asp vs. www.mysite.com/product-page.asp?AffiliateID=Whatever Will adding the ?AffiliateID=Whatever cause the crawler to interpret this link as being different than the original? Would we be better off keeping all links exactly the same, or does it not matter? Any help is appreciated.
Google will probably interpret this as a purchased link, and penalize accordingly. Google doesn't like bought links much.
Many Affiliates after getting the Affiliate id will do a 301 redirect to the product page .. I mean ex: www.blah.com/product.php?id=134 will finally cause a redirect to www.blah.com/product.php Code (markup): after getting the id and adding a tracking cookie .. I have seen similar behavior in some Affiliate and it is SEO friendly behaviour
