Linking between own sites

    Hi

    I've currently got 3 sites, all of which perform reasonably well but one more than the others.

    Can anybody give me some hints as to what effect interlinking the 3 sites would have and what the advantages and disadvantages of this would be?

    Thanks!

    :)

    If you are looking for benefit after interlinking your sites then you get only Fast Indexing by Google and some traffic to your sites if they are relevant to each other, otherwise they are not going to give you any seo benefit.

    If you say about drawback so apart from my experience i am sure you wud not get any penalty etc. from Google.

    Interlinking has its own PROs and CONs but the fact that it does help (depends in the relativity of sites) by getting increase in traffic and and site being indexed, it is worth taking risk...

    While linking with own site try to link through relevancy of internal page which has higher PR especially using most appropriate keyword phrase.

    If one site underperformes it could have an adverse effect on your higher ranking site.

    I don't think nothing much will happen if you interlink your sites...nothing good and nothing bad.

    Personally I won't advice to interlink them unless they are authority websites and you can get something more then link value in return

    By the way, if you are looking to exchange link as per your siggie thread, I will advice you to avoid doing sitwide. It will hurt you..

    It worth because google consider all sites different if all have different domain name and different content although the owner is same.

    I would host them on different IPs and possibly register the domains in different names as Google is now a domain registar.

    if the sites are on different IPs you could try a trinagle of links

    i.e. A -> B -> C -> A

    This way you'd get a bunch of one way links that will increase your PR.

    If you interlink make sure the sites are related. That way you'll benefit from the link and won't run afoul of google. If you put the link on just one or two pages from each site in the content or a menu you'll also get referral traffic from one site to the next. I'd avoid site wide footer links that won't refer any traffic and also might look spammy to the search engines.
