I forget if there is a special term for this or not... I have about 5 websites. Should I link to the other 4 on the homepage of each website? What is the latest research on this and its effect on Google rankings? BTW, they are all on the same server (same IP). I read once that Google puts less value on links from the one IP, is this still true?
The word is "interlinking". If the sites are related then it's fine to do, even if located on same server. As for your other question, links from other unique IP addresses will have more value.
If these are your own sites then put them under Partners or Partner Sites. Doing this will be beneficial for you.
Hello... While you shouldnt have issues, never underestimate google. To be on the safe side i would use no follow so that they dont cry about you spreading PR to your other sites or interlinking them. thx malcolm
Yeah that will work but it won’t create much link juice with them being on the same server. The partner thing is a good idea though. Google likes this but they prefer it if the links are coming from different IP addresses. Hope this helps,
If you are linking all your site and if they are hosted to same IP then make sure that you will not get any benefits from it.
I'm with malcolm on this one. If google finds out they're your own sites, they may penalized you as they will think you're trying to manipulate your SERPs. So I'd nofollow them like malcolm1 suggests.
