Linked sites trouble

I have a couple of different sites in the coop, most of which are on related topics and used to rank well for the same keywords. I've carefully put them onto different servers with different IP's and they have very little interlinking (most with 'rel=nofollow'), so G didn't seem to see them as linked sites so far. However, I've put the ad network onto some of these sites (but not others), and I have adds running pointing to many of my sites. This initially gave my SERPS placement a good boost :D

    .....however....

...now I start to get EXTREMELY volatile ranking results - like position 4 - 5 one day, not ranked next day, then at around 500, back into the top 10 and so on
I guess G now considers the sites linked as I seem to run coop adverts for my own sites, so that my no-interlinking strategy is sort of defeated... :(

Is there anything I can do about this other than removing my adds manually from the ad_network_ads.txt file once a day (not looking forward to doing that...)?

    Thanks!

It might not have anything to do with Co-op. Google has been doing strange things in the past week or so.

Is it possible that the (rel="nofollow") tag isn't currently as effective as you might have thought?

Shawn has been PMing some people a work around which deletes ads to yourself. However, yu are asking to delete ads to yourself but on a different domain. That would the be open to abuse where you detele all ads you don;t like which on its turn defeats the principle of the Co-op.

Search the Co-op forums for a post by Digitalpoint abuot this hack and ask him I guess.

Filtering will be implemented though, but not sure when.

Thank you - I'll try to get that fix. For deleting ads, these are all ads in linked accounts and all sites are mine, so I don't quite see a problem with this. There is clearly a linked sites issue... :(

Could just be some days you've got PR6 backlinks from the co-op and some days you have PR2 sites. As google updates and notices these changes they drop your site's rankings for lower PR links and raise it for higher... just a thought

China Nick, I've been seeing the same type of thing happening accross 15 sites and I am not a member of the co-op. I doubt its the co-op doing that to you, its just the way it is right now.
