Linkbuilding Rate

How important is the rate or pace of building links? I heard that SEs may penalize a site for building too quickly, so what would be the optimal rate for buying backlinks? Thanks!

5 a day, at irregular intervals, may not be too bad.

You can build link by directory submission: but, don't submit your website more than 20 directories per day.

i m not agree with u.if u submit your site in 20 dir than it is not sure that all will approve your link. among that 20 2-4 will approve and a'ter long time.
i have submitted 100 dir per day and it worth a well for all my sites.

We can't control how fast our links appear in Google index. Hence, we do not need to worry about this :)

If Google penalize our sites just because of rapid links building, our competitors will be able to destroy us ;)

if you have outgoing links = incomming links, supported with valuable and fresh content then probably a faster rate won't hurt.

but then too many backlinks, and that too from free directories, or link farms can really harm you! but that dosenot mean you should not submit to free ones, check the pagerank, that will help, higher pr links are good:D

i don't think you'll get penalized coz your site will be index after a week or so

If you plan to "link spam" by getting 1,000 links per day to your 5 days old site than I would think twice about it.

Otherwise, don't even bother - rather work on your site. The rest are small details in the great scheme of things.

Yeah, the site that I'm pointing to is already like 3 years old and scores decently well for most of our industry terms. Right now, it's just a matter of being able to rank even higher. Our competitors do a significant amount of link-buying, so we're trying to step it up. I wonder if purchasing site-wide links (instantly giving us 1000+ new links) is going to show up as a flag to SEs.
