Linkbacks between websites using the same IP address

I have several flooring related websites, all on the same server and using the same IP address. How are linkbacks affected in this situation? Are linkbacks devalued when the IP address of the linking website is the same as the linked website? Is there a better strategy?

    Thanks,

    Jim

I think having all your sites on the same class c IP, will certainly be devalued as regards link strength, but not totally dismissed from the total count.

It maybe worth considering spreading the sites across a few different IP addresses.

    Good Luck :)

You are absolutely correct. Links from the same c class IP will be devalued and not help you nearly as much as links from a different host. If you are looking to inner link your site's you may want to consider putting them up on a few different hosts, then doing your linking.

    Thanks for your replies.

I am on a KnownHost.com VPS and they allow adding IP addresses. Here is what it says about it in my WHM:
My server's current IP address is 72.249.87.nnn (not sure of security implications, so I masked the final digits of my IP) and my account info says I am s'posed to have 2 dedicated IP addresses. The other IP is only 1 digit different than the last digit. Adding additional IPs as above, is less than a buck an IP.

What kind of range difference would be safe to use for an additional IP address? I would rather utilize the add-on IP feature, if that will be beneficial. I would rather not have a second host account because of the expense, but if the add-on feature is of little or no increased value to me, I would add another host. I'm sure the increased value of the linkbacks would result in better traffic and, ultimately, better ad revenue - enough at least to pay for the extra server.

    Thanks for any guidance,

    Jim

I disagree I don't think links from the same Class C IP, will make a link less valuable
