The other difference is that you choose which pages to put LV on. You only put the code on pages you want the LV to appear.
They need to work on the link approval process a bit too - I have a link on my site that's not a link....it's just text. At this point the "theming" of the links is pretty sad too. I imagine that's due in part to not having a large enough selection of sites in the network at this point.
I use link vault my self and its great. You should of have used a search though this topic has been dragged on to death
Agreed. I have noticed on our travel site that the links placed by LV have been almost all travel related and those spots were snapped up pretty quickly, whereas the spaces I've made available on another site which is in the society section, the placement of links has been slower and varied. So I see the theming working well, but it's definitely a case of there being room for improvement that will only come as more sites from a variety of backgrounds enter the network.
I do believe there is a room for improvement to the theme issue Also the categories when you submit your links must be increased The first thing i saw and like in LV is the manual search they make for each site to ensure it's not banned or out of known SE Their linking model looks interesting
I completely owned on the recent yahoo update... rock on! LV links is basically the reason why so am pretty damn happy right now.
That's one part of Link-Vault I actually don't like and think it's big reason why so many junky pages run the ads and the good pages within the site don't. It would improve the quality of the network if they required people run ads on all pages.
I don't agree with that. Some ROS pages are JUNK and it's being circulated that ROS external links are getting noticed by search engines. So targetted pages or sections actually might be better.
I've opened up more space for LV as you can choose what pages, previously I only allowed space in the forums. A tip for anyone here installing LV. The links you are awarded roll out slowly... you don't need a whole lot of vaultage immediately, so just add more link spaces bit by bit, to be awarded more vaultage as you need it.
I agree - in theory that would be perfect. Targetted links on quality, targetted pages. But what I've seen happening, in my limited experience with LV, is that everyone runs LV on the least important highest page count part of their site. I've received hundreds of links through LV and not one is on a page even remotely close to the home page. If everyone had to run the code on all pages the probability of getting a targetted, quality link would greatly improve.
I agree homepage link would be the best option for LV and generally These links weight is much better that all the other nested links
I have LV on my homepage. Used to have an LV link there but more sites must have joined up since then and now I have three travel reelated which is fine. I suppose I am not that impressed with where my links have been placed ... certainly not all in travel where I want them to be. Still, I have no experience of these networks to compare with and I do think it is helping.
doesn't really bother me where the link is, as long as it's on a cached page. i have noticed a lot of pr2-5 links being placed for my sites. For all you complaining about not having good links in the syste, why not allow links on your higher PR pages. I have added chached slots for hundreds of PR2-5 pages on my sites, thus in return it seems my site placement has gone up. I rather have a few thougsand links under PR5 than have to track down and monitor these lazy webmasters that trade links, then take them off never to return a message. Many of my new sites has gone from PR0 to PR5 last update, not saying LV is the total reason, but it did free up my time to take on more important tasks.
That's an interesting question, not sure how you would track that as there are a lot of individual sites involved. I'd say though that the majority of the traffic benefit from LV comes from your site getting better rankings in search results - as a result of having links to your site from Link Vault and other places.
I've upgraded to the first subscription level of Link Vault. Anyone else here using the advanced package?
