Lots of people had been asking how link vault would make any money...I got an e-mail today:

Plans range from free to $79/month.

IMO to much to soon. Asking us to pay $14 a month just to see how many links we have placed and where they are placed considering they have yet to prove they can effectively manage those functions is going to cause many to leave.

My thoughts exactly. I've been patient with the growth related problems they have experienced due to the fact the program was free. I wouldn't pay anything for system that in my opinion is still unproven and needs work.

They should have waited another 6 - 12 months, and, perfected the system before they even started talking about $.

Or at the very least asked for donations or just made some of their new features pay to use.

Check out BannerShift Link Exchange Network.
    http://www.bannershift.com

The network is new. It was launched just 2 weeks ago. Till now we got 80 members. One problem is that most of the members are not active.
This network has much better features that you will not find in link-vault. Instead of automatic link distribution, you are using search engine to find pages where to place your links.
The network will be free for webmasters for ever.

There is an exchange rate for the links.

    http://www.bannershift.com/link-ad-exchange/faq.php#25

    What is an exchange rate?
For each credit you get one link. Every page could display up to 5 links. 3 links will be placed by other members. And other 2 will be provided by BannerShift Network or its partners. You will get credits by showing other members links on your page. So, if another member places a link on your page, you will get 1 credit. Therefore you will get up to 3 credits for displaying links on one page. Using these 3 credits you can get 3 links for yourself.

    WE GET IT.

You can stop spamming this forum (and every thread about link networks) with this crap about bannershift.

I said it before - the forum is dead and the FAQ is weak. I highly doubt there's even 25 sites particiapting in that network.

So back on topic, what does everyone think of the paid feature options with link vault?

(Shtirlitzz - you are the spammer)

I am sure the coop will start getting flooded with people abandoning the vault ship. Who would pay for that stuff?

Browsing through their forum on this topic which is already up to 8 pages long (a record for them I believe), I think many users are not to happy so hopefully they will get the hint and modify their payment structure.

I have been with link vault for 6 weeks after joinging th COOP at DP.

My value is 172 - but I havent yet seen the back links coming through ( still too soon for Google I guess )

If I am to now pay $ 39.00 per month ( as thats the closest service to what is there at present ) then I may think again. Has anyone had any experince of increase backlinks etc.

I dont mind paying for results where results are of a good quality - I hate paying for crap .....

I think its a huge mistake personally. There is always a progression with these things and it will hurt new signups.

Because of the delayed effect, how do you know more of Link Vault won't cost money. My fear would be waiting it out to see results then being hit up with a small fee before I see the full benefit.

I am so glad now that Shawn hasn't gone down that road.

Its very disapointing but its certainly within Webbys rights. I can't fault him for looking to recoup some costs.

I just think there will be a drop off of diversity at a time when that is exactly what they need to be a better network.

I'll be dropping my sites out I should have thought.

The system still needs work and I'm not prepared to pay for features that I gained by referring people to the site.

If they had made it clear early on that payment would be involved in the future, I'd have stuck in. But to just decide to change it like that really pisses me off.

The only feature I really want is to know how much weight I have and where it's gone. I'm not paying for something that should be part of the system by default.

I agree and Webby should have started with a donation system. Pay what you think its worth.

I moved my sites a couple of weeks ago back to the Coop only because I didn't like the links that were appearing.

It was a great idea but they should have focused more on getting it running smoothly before asking for money.

    Agreed.

I have no issue paying for the service, but I certianly do have an issue with the way in which they have forced the payment (I also think the rates are far too high).
