I should have listened to you guys sooner. I swapped my ad type last week for my sub header. My link units, opposed to image units are really getting a great CTR now. now im getting about $5 a day from my baby site opposed to .50c Im really not a fan of link units on my site because they look like yuck,..but now that i know they are working much better for me...i think ill take yuck for the extra buck.
yeah link units adds a lot of variety to the site..Remember not all visitors like what you like the most. So offer them variety and they love to click ur ads. good luck
Hey congrats! That's quite a jump from $0.50 to $5.00! Link units do well for me too. I use them in one of two places - a horizontal unit under the header graphic or a vertical unit under the nav bar column. It varies a bit from site to site, but I get good results from both. Best,
Umm I only put my link units in the horizontal way. maybe i should put it in the vertical way as well. the problem is i have to redesign the whole site again.
thanks everyone, ive switched all image ads to links, both horizontal and vert. horizontal are doing far better at my location. ill keep you posted on improvements. -Tim
Link units appear less intrusive to the user, in my opinion, and more like credible, authentic content. They promise more value and a more worthwhile use of the user's time as opposed to image ads, I'd wager.
I think thats where i had a hard time, coming from a graphic design standpoint...i prefer image ads...but not your typical viewer is a GD person. For my MyDentify site, thats where i added the horizontal link unit. On my other sites for instance i need an opinion - what unit best fits my content? Im kind of turning this into the wrong board section to ask,..but hmm for instance: use of link unit- http://www.timothyallard.com/revitalizingpixels/resources/v3/corporate.html use of image unit- http://www.timothyallard.com/revitalizingpixels/resources/v3/conferences.html i think your right with the link unit, like the first one. but i tend to use more image ads on pages with alot of imagry. possibly to increase CTR, for instance on the second link, there is alot of imagery, and it seems to make it work i would need an image ad...i will be testing things. -Tim
