Link units Vs display ads what the **** gives?

I find with the two sites I run a gaming (display ads) and music (link units) niche I get paid per click with the display ads. But when A user clicks a link unit ad I am finding with the link units I do not get credit for a 'click' unless an individual clicks a second link on the next landing page. is this true?

I am also having another issue where the keywords of the link units have nothing to do with the landing pages. I reported that to adsense. I am new at this. I am at 63$ in my adsense account and am trying to push it over 100$ so i can get the hell out of there and go with an ad company that allows you to cash out with less in an account.

Well I clicked on someone elses link units one time and it took me to a page of advertisements. So the question is if I don't click on one of those advertisements does the click on the link unit count even?

If anyone is clicking on the link unit ad then he needs to click on the ads from the next page and then only it will counted as a valid click.

That's how the link ads works. You will only get paid if the visitor click on the adsense ads on the next landing page

depends on your traffic source, link ads are often valuable income sources.

yes, link units need two clicks. good luck with finding another good ad company.. But you're taking the problem by the wrong end. You want payouts at $10, but what about if you earn $100 quickly, in one day or one week, wouldn't that solve the problem instead?
    Whatever.

I have been trying to get into the adsense game for 5 years or more. I would be happy if i cleared enough for my hosting costs. how can link units be profitable if the landing pages have NOTHING to do with the anchor text of the page before? Makes no sense. Thanks for the insight however.

if you don't like link units, then just don't use it. I see many webmasters not using link units on their pages. I even see many not using adsense for search on their pages.
People can do what they want, me I put often the maximum I'm allowed to on my page, except the adsense search I'm lazy so I put only one of the 2 allowed boxes.

Each little bit counts, my goal personally is always to reach a minimum of $5 RPM on any site (talking about adsense only), be it with good CTR or good CPC, it doesn't matter, but every little bit helps towards this goal.

What about display ads? where it is a list of links in a box. Is that a two click count as well? I Just started putting ads on my music site, and then looked into google ads and saw a 4$ click and was very excited. Upon further research it was from my gaming site, which gets 1/8th the traffic. My music site is my favorite and has a bigger fan base.

Making money online costs so much damn money while learning. I am glad I am almost over that bubble. Working on a religious site soon which in theory should be the honey pot for what i want to make per month.

Thanks for the responses. Most dumb questions get ignored I find in some areas of this site

Learn the terminology and you'll be more at ease to understand.
    There are:
    ad units
    link units

ad units are the common adsense, you get paid for one click on one of the ads inside.
link units are the small boxes with keywords/links, when someone click them they are shown a page full of ads. If they click on one ad you get money, if not, nothing.

The link units ressemble menus or navigation bar, so they should be placed accordingly, in sidebars or below navigation menus (depends on the format of the link unit, box or horizontal line).
Ad units ressemble content links and so should be placed accordingly around or inside the content.
