I never really put them into practise because of the 2 clicks needed however I have recently implemented them in a fashion that gives them some prominence and is very conducive to clicks. Well it paid off today...... $8 for 1 click on http://www.mytipper.com I highly reccomend these units!
I am stoked I needed a big day or i wont reach my $100 this month. that has really helped since i was only on about $1 for the day before that
Congrats Danny, hope you meet and exceed your goal this month. One suggestion, you might want to move them up under your top nav links I've never been a fan of the text link ads either, but since I don't have any other monetized activity on my female celebrities home page I figured it couldn't hurt - I've been pleasantly surprised, but I think the placement I gave them has helped more than simply having them. »If you don't see any ads under the top nav links, it's because I've set it up to match the background colors of the CSS and render it a "space" rather than run PSA's«
I just hope I get a few more of them. I wish I knew what the ad was, I would just flood my site with that link So far the link units are converting well on http://www.mytipper.com though I will move them as people become more ad blind
WOW! $8 for one click! Amazing. I have to admit that link units have been working pretty well for me lately too, but no where near $8. Congrats!
usually I get between $0.02 and $2 for a click then one from right out of the blue at $8!!!!!! before that my highest ever click was $4 I must have swept across something pretty damn good, I know the people on that site are generally good conversions as well so it has not been smart priced like one of my other sites
yeah link units are best if they are used right. probably the highest click rate, maybe thats why google only allows only 1 link unit per page?
That depends a lot. I find it that adlinks have worst CTR, Worst CPC. Many people would agree. In this case however, the person seems to have higher paying ad category so its working fine. Also google would want people to click the ads, so thats not the case. A reasonable thought would be that there arent usually enough categories for 1 page to have 2 units, or to limit total spamming such as huge menu looking navigations of ads.
Since I have started using link units my CTR went way up and I'm making at least double of what I made before I used them.
I just get a trickle from mine, but every so often someone does the first click on them, then gets to the second page and explores all the links on that page... BINGO, I get $4 or so. Inspired by this thread, I'm going to add more to my pages.
