Hello, I have a site where the Link Units are not displaying properly on my home page. I have 5x link unit horizontal at the top, but for my home page it's only displaying 1 ad. But what's weird is that on other pages in my site the same link unit displays just fine. And some of these pages don't have ANY real content (like a "contact us" page that only has a few forms). Do the presence of "stop words" result in this sort of behavior? I thought stop words could cause PSA's to display, but not less ads than normal. Incidentally, though this is not my site, here's a site that has the link units at the top just like I do on mine: http://www.freeantivirusesscan.info/ And his link units are displayed just fine across the top -- all 5 of them. But for my home page I only get 1 of the 5 displayed. Anyone have any insight into what could be causing this? I sincerely appreciate your help! -data.
This is normal behavior. Google decides when and where they want to put ads. In ad units and link units, they vary the number displayed to try to maximise profits.
It will fluctuate between showing 5 ads, 1 ad, or a search box. Depends what google can find to match your content.
From time to time they seem to work for me. Especially when someone browses most or all of the results in the resulting page. You can get multiple clicks that way.
All I can say is that most of the time I get click amounts in single figures, but some days it's in double figures, which I attribute to multiple clicks in link units.
Yeah, but that's not my site. Okay, so if Google will mix it up with regard to how many ads are shown, if I only see 1 ad in a 5x link unit, should I assume that the page in question does not have enough relevant content for Google to find suitable ads? And if that's the case, why does my "Contact Us" page with NO content (only a few forms) have the 5x link unit fully populated? Thanks, -datad.
